This landmark transaction marks Kalyan Hospitality’s official entry into Pennsylvania, expanding the company’s geographic footprint into a new state alongside Virginia, Maryland, Oregon, Washington, and New York.
Located along the Monongahela River in the dynamic Waterfront shopping, dining, and entertainment complex, the property sits at the center of one of the most historically significant industrial landscapes in the Pittsburgh region. The hotel occupies land that was once part of the legendary Homestead Steel Works. Originally acquired by Andrew Carnegie in 1883, the Homestead Works grew into one of the nation's premier steelmaking operations, employing roughly 15,000 workers at its peak during World War II.
Today, while the site has been revitalized into the modern Waterfront development, its historic legacy endures. Guests staying at the property are immersed in living history, surrounded by preserved landmarks including the iconic 250-foot industrial smokestacks, the historic Pump House, a gantry crane, a Dinkey engine, and the historic 12,000-ton press.
